This was our second day in Nakhon Phanom and we went to Wat Phrathat Phanom Temple. We left the Hotel just after breakfast and got a ride in a Tuk-Tuk to the Bus Station where mini-vans going to the Temple depart. This was the first time Christina (with the hat) got in one of these things…
The journey in the mini-van was more confortable and took around half an hour for a 40 kilometers trip from Nakhon Phanom. We wanted to visit this temple for our parents who have a keen interest in visiting temples.
The temple is huge and ancient with lots of illustrations and colors.
Phrathat Phanom (พระธาตุพนม). The sacred stupa is located in the compound of Wat Phrathat Phanom Woramahawihan. The stupa is the real icon that nourishes the hearts of Nakhon Phanom’s people, as well as people from other provinces and Laotian Buddhists. (Source: Wikipedia)
For buddhists, Nakhon Phanom is a place of choice with many temples to visit. Wat Phra That Phanom is also an excellent buddhist temple you do not want to miss.
